Boomers How We Changed the World vol.1 1946-1980: A Generational Biography: Baby Boomers; Those Born From 1946-1964. AlfordPress.com History, Generational Biography, Political Science, Sociology, Political Sociology, Social Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Popular Culture, Government, Politics, Entertainment: volume 1 – Snapshots & Timeline 1946-1980. A Brief History. Timeline of events portrayed like looking through a photo album of the past. There are many quick moments of time captured that create a desire for more information and understanding. How did the United States and its citizens get to where we are in 2010? Read for fun and use for high school or college course material. Those born from 1946-1964, this book is about YOU. Volume 1: The years from 1946 through 1980. You lived it. You suffered through it. You enjoyed it, but does anyone really understand what we went through? Did you ever try to talk to your grandchildren about the Vietnam War? Do they understand that while the “Easy Bake Oven” was the hottest toy for the Christmas season of 1963.

1961 – As TV censors allowed couples to have one bed in their bedroom, the rule was both spouses could not both be in the bed at the same time. One of the two had to have at least one foot on the floor. In 1962 we make the jump to TV’s”Peton’s Place”.

What was the World like that you inherited? And “How We Changed The World”. There are over 80 million Boomers in the U.S. If you look through the data it is obvious how the citizens of the United States of America (YOU) fought for honor, decency, high moral values and against all of the warnings we started to slide ever so slowly down that path to where we are today. What so many of us do not remember is how long and hard we fought. This book will mean something different to every person who reads it because we are all different with a common ground. Our intention is to take you back in time and allow you to feel exactly what it was like. This book is a powerful academic resource that can be used on many different levels. Above all it is down-to-earth and extremely interesting to just sit and read.

Back in the day, romance meant more than just a card and some flowers.

Love and life are inseparable from each other. Where there is life, there is love. Even on the most rudimentary level of consciousness, living things reach beyond their limitations and merge with other forms. Love is the attractive force that seeks this unity. It is the cosmic glue that holds the universe. together. We are told that “the kingdom of God is within you.” Love is the key that gives us access to that inner kingdom and all of its riches. “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,  with all your strength, and with all your might, and your neighbor as yourself.” This quotation shows there are three types of love -love for God, love for oneself, and love for another. Let us embody these dimensions of love so that we can experience the bliss and unity that come from experiencing life with an open heart.

Outside my hotel suite window, New York City’s lights glimmered like diamonds. Across the street, headlights cut through the shadows of Central Park and scattered into the night. Somewhere to the southwest-beyond the park and Broadway, across the Hudson river-stood my old North Philadelphia neighborhood, with its run-down row houses and treeless streets, not so far in physical distance, yet a world away. It was March of 1980. Don’t ask me the exact date; I never kept a di9ary. I was in town alone for my thirtieth-birthday party. Turning thirty is, I’d heard, one of those milestones you approach with trepidation, but it didn’t bother me, because at that moment, my life was great. I had no regrets, and I never looked back. What was the point? I welcomed the future, and I believed in myself. And how could I not? I don’t mean to brag, but my star just seemed to be glowing brighter all the time. Just ten years earlier, with a singing group called the Blue Notes, I was crooning “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” to a Miami hotel lounge full of blue-haired ladies, then driving all night to open in a smoky little joint where the audience consisted of pimps and prostitutes who demanded a repertoire a lot funkier. No “Raindrop” for them. Five years before, I left that group for a solo career, and less than two years later my debut album, Teddy Pendergrass, went platinum. Now, in 1980, gold and platinum discs hung inside my thirty-four-room mansion, and a crowd of friends, record company executives, assorted VIPs, and other guests were waiting at an exclusive disco to wish me a happy birthday. Book Description

When Melanie Bridges, a beautiful, single, successful D.C. journalist, decided to attend her first love’s wedding to her college enemy, she thought she was closing a chapter for good, but instead she unknowingly opened up a world of deceit, betrayal, and more heartache than she had bargained for.

Melanie is forced to face the man who broke her heart and the woman who stole his. She heads back to Atlanta with her girls, two years after graduating from Atlanta A&M University, where it all began, where she met her college sweetheart Derrick Mason and the only real friends she’s ever known—wild Nikki Blanchard, sweet Shelly McCrary, and focused Toni Davis-Solomon. While preparing to bury, for good, the idea that she and her ex will ever marry, Melanie takes advantage of this midyear vacation with her best friends of six years. But in the midst of her Atlanta stay, secrets are discovered, lies are uncovered, horrid memories resurface, and friends become enemies. Facing her fears leads to a shock of a lifetime and more pain than she could have ever imagined. The most disturbing discovery is the realization that through life’s trials, she’s lost the essence of who she really is; as if what was organically and authentically Melanie had just upped and walked away. It takes prayer, strength, and love like she’s never known to bring her back.

Love

And now I will show you the most excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not easily angered. it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails……

  2. Howdy, I do believe your blog might be having internet browser compatibility problems. When I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine however when opening in I.E., it has some overlapping issues.
